| A 19-year-old was seriously beaten on the MetroLink on Sunday afternoon |
KMOV, KSDK, KTVI, KMOX and the Post-Dispatch have all covered a teenager suffering a quick and serious beat-down on the MetroLink on Sunday afternoon at the hands of four other kids. They didn't rob him, leading to speculation that they were playing Knockout King (for background, see our feature).
Nobody agrees on precisely where it happened, though the consensus seems to be that it occurred somewhere between the Forest Park and Union Station stops (a pretty long stretch of rail line).
By all accounts, the kid was minding his own business when the beating started. It only lasted a few minutes, but the kid's face is fractured and swollen, according to KTVI.
KTVI also gathered a bunch of heartbreaking photos from the victim's mother, who says her 19-year-old is a quiet kid who likes music and art. (The pictures of his artwork, including the one of a quiet farm, certainly don't suggest the kind of kid who was "asking for it.")
The mother told the news crew her son might need surgery.
Police have confiscated the surveillance videos as evidence.
