Rev. Larry Rice's Integrity Village Goes Up in North County, Comes Down Same Day

After attempting to open a tent city for the homeless in St. Louis City only to have it condemned and shut down immediately, Reverend Larry Rice followed through on his promise to rebuild his homeless tent community in the County. On Saturday morning, Rice and volunteers from the New Life Evangelistic Center set up the new version of Integrity Village on open ground in the 3900 block of Lada Avenue, which is part of a residential neighborhood not far from Bel-Ridge's City Hall.

On Saturday afternoon, the tent was gone.

St. Louis County reportedly told Rice that the property was not sanitary and that the tent violated zoning laws. There were no toilets on-site, and Rice didn't have permits for portable toilets.

Rice, as ever, is undaunted. He vowed to work with the county to make the property legally inhabitable as a stop-gap until a homeless shelter is built in St. Louis County.
