St. Charles Rescinds Water Conservation Order

Categories: Environment

On July 5, St. Charles issued a voluntary water conservation order, the result of a blazing July 4 that saw the city go through 15.1 million gallons of water in one day. Effective today, that order has been lifted; water usage all this week has been at 10 million gallons per day average, which is lower than the normal peak usage of 12 to 13 million gallons per day.

What a difference a little rain and some cooler weather makes. A couple more weeks of weather like what we have in store this weekend (projected highs of 81 degrees tomorrow and Sunday!) and we can slide right into snow and freezing rain on October 1, and maybe then I'll finally stop carping about this summer.
