Two Guys + Baseball Bat + Knife = After-Bars Fight on Washington Avenue

Any fight with a knife and baseball bat requires a Double Dragon graphic.
Soon after the 3 a.m. bars closed down on Washington Avenue last night, a couple of guys -- one a 31-year-old, the other in his mid-twenties -- started jawing at each other in the parking lot between Flamingo Bowl and The Dubliner, police say.

The younger guy (who cops consider the "suspect") went to his vehicle, pulled out a baseball bat and began chasing the older man (referred to as "the victim").

The victim then pulled a pocket knife out of his pocket "for his protection."

The suspect smacked the victim with the bat, so he dropped his knife.

The suspect then picked up the blade off the pavement and somehow cut the 31-year-old on his hands.

Cops are describing the suspect, who fled the scene, as a "24-26-year-old white male, 5'09" with a muscular build, and brown ahir, wearing a light blue t-shirt and jeans."

I was listening to the police scanner last night to try to follow the huge bi-state chase last night, and heard this call. Suspect also drives a white Dodge Ram I think they said. Maybe this'll help, maybe not.

@eastb00gie You have a police scanner? I need to get one of those things.

@NP_DailyRFT  @eastb00gie http://livestlscanner.webs.com/ --  a friend on facebook turned me on to it last night to keep up with the chase.  so far today there's been a victim shot in the face at a north florissant white castle, a suspect running around in all black & ski mask with an assault rifle (didn't pick up where that was at), and, you guessed it, trouble at Larry Rice's.  much better than reading the post-dispatch

So, are 3 am closings contribibuting to the recovery of downtown St. Louis or to its demise?

And remember big bad Larry Rice and all the 'dangers and problems' he is causing around the New Life? West of Tucker? Well neither of the two murders (reportedly involving the homeless)

occurred any where near his place. So point Bill S toward the real danger areas and leave

Rice alone.

@egolterman Ed, you're being ridiculous. These are completely unrelated events.  I live on Locust and am constantly dealing with the issues of the homeless (one guy diarrhea shit all over the wall of my garage entrance, constant aggressive panhandling, and loud arguments/fights outside my window). The guys in this fight are just steroided douches.  Bar fights are going to happen in area bar district. Washington is a bar district. Locust is a residential street. Big difference.

@loftresidentHow about a grant, every fifth grant for Rice? 4 for St. Pats and one for Larry. To get people inside and expand. Slay could not have offered him one of 200 empty buildings Downtown? All of downtown is now is at risk, all of it. The homeless and crime problems are symptoms of a downtown that did not come back last decade or the decade before. St. Louis did not do what other cities did. They pushed out crime and reduced homelessness by bring back the economy.
