Billboard Wars: Secularists Hit Back at Anti-Gay-Marriage Message from Catholics

Battle of the billboards in Smithville!
Oh, it's so ON!

Matt Gaines of Smithville (between Kansas City and St. Joseph) did not take kindly to the billboard recently erected by 1090 AM, a Catholic radio station in his hometown.

The billboard he found offensive was this one:

So on Highway 169, one mile north of Highway 92 in Clay County, he arranged for a new billboard:

This billboard now stands on Highway 169 in Clay County

Gaines is a member of the Freedom From Religion Foundation, a secular non-profit based in Madison, Wisconsin. The message is actually their slogan, and they paid for the sign. But Gaines got them involved, and he himself donated some funds to make it happen.

Said Gaines in a statement:
"To denigrate other people's relationships or the decisions they have had to make with their outdated religious dogmas is simply shameful."

i have no idea how, or where this clown gaines sees a marriage between church and state.

i do know, in typical left wing fashion, he wants to shut up any dialogue that isn't in lockstep with his ideology.

 @carey529 Oh I dont know..maybe it has something to do with the right wing going on and on about bringing "god" back to this country or how it was founded on christian principles, which it never was.

I think the constant ranting about Christianity is EXACTLY what he, and every rational person, is seeing.

 @carey529 How is he "shutting up dialogue" in this case? Seems like he's starting it.

 @smdrpepper

 really?

WHO'S principles was the country founded on...

the left wing progressive's?

you're as bad as they are...you don't want to hear them any more than they want to hear you.

they disagree with your dogma as staunchly as you disagree with theirs...

you're all the same, just too damn full of yourself to admit it.

 @carey529 How is historical fact "revisionist"?  And notice, they said "creator" and not "god".  They said that because they had no knowledge of Darwins work since he had yet to make his trip, or even be born.  They admit they did not know how we got here but still did not resort to calling out to whatever invisible old guy on a cloud to explain it.  In fact most of the fathers were not even christian, therefore proving they did not found the country on those principles.

 @smdrpepper

please spare me the revisionist history lesson.

had king george not taxed the colonists out the yazoo, we'd most likely still be brithish subjects.

btw, when the rights of man are garanteed by our creator, you lose the secular battle...the country was founded with no religion endorsed by the government, NOT with no religion.

 @carey529 Actually it WAS founded on VERY liberal ideas.  This country was the first to break away from a monarchy.  But it was based on secular principles since the fathers knew just how corrosive religion really was.  They did not want it to destroy the country.

And yet, the right would have it happen anyway.
