It is a crime, however, to claim educational tax credits on customers' returns when, in reality, those customers hadn't paid any expenses to deserve them. (Not to mention an insult to the feds' intelligence to almost always claim the same amount of expenses: $3,765.)
Jimi Clark of Memphis, Tennessee -- the owner of the Mo' Money Taxes Franchise here on Aubert Avenue -- was indicted in federal court on Wednesday for conspiracy to file false tax returns. Also charged were two others from Tennessee, Justin Buford and Mary Taylor, and two employees from St. Louis, Leslie Chaney and Ray Reed. (Read the indictment here.)
