Post-Dispatch Quietly Hikes Newsstand Price

post-dispatch-price.jpg
The new Post-Dispatch: Half the news at one-and-a-half times the price.
The price of the Monday through Saturday Post-Dispatch increased 50 percent last week from $1.00 to $1.50. The Sunday paper also jumped 50 cents to $2.50.

At the moment, it appears the price increase only impacts those who pick up the paper at the newsstand. Subscribers (at least this one) have not been notified of a price hike.

A message left last week with the Post-Dispatch went unreturned. But as Riverfront Times has documented a time or two the newspaper has had to drastically cut its newsroom staff to make up for the huge financial losses of its corporate parent, Lee Enterprises.

Will raising the price of the paper help the bottom line or just lead to even fewer readers of the print edition? Stay tuned!
