Woman shot and robbed in near Cardinal Glennon
Update: Police say a 27-year-old white female was shot in the face this morning just southwest of Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital.

It happened around 6 a.m., as the woman was walking out to her vehicle on the 1900 1600 block of South Spring Street.

The suspect -- described as a black male in his mid-twenties, about six feet tall with dreadlocks -- walked up to her.

He grabbed her purse, shot her in the face, then took off running.

The victim was taken to a local hospital in "critical/stable" condition.

Investigation, as always, is ongoing.

With no hockey, baseball, or football this week or weekend, perhaps the Mayor can pay a call on the owners of the Cardinals/operators of Busch Stadium, owners of the Blue/operators of the hockey arena and Kiel Opera House and owners of the Fox Theater who control live entertainment in St. Louis, and request the cumulative $25 million a year they bank in ticket tax revenue. This is one of the few fair taxes. Never heard anyone  complain about a ticket tax. May be service charges. And hire 200 more police officers right now and 200 more early next year. Put a dozen of them on south grand, kind of full time. From the reopened taja-ma-hall viaduct and Arsenal.
