Here's your weekly St. Louis bestseller list for the week ending November 4, as compiled by the St. Louis Independent Booksellers Alliance and based on sales at Left Bank Books, Main Street Books, Pudd'nhead Books and Subterranean Books.

It's probably not surprising that a week before the election, the number-one bestseller in St. Louis was Silenced Majority: Stories of Uprisings, Occupations, Resistance, and Hope by Amy Goodman, Denis Moynihan and Michael Moore. Or that I Could Pee on This: And Other Poems by Cats by Francesco Marciuliano is on the list for the second straight week. Moral outrage and LOLcat poetry never get old. (Well, at least not to the people who love them.)

What is surprising is that novelist Ellen Hopkins had four books on the list, two for adults, two for kids. Hopkins gave a reading that week, but so did most of the other writers on the list. Hopkins writes all her novels in free verse. Maybe there's hope for poetry after all.

Also on the list: Tony LaRussa, The Hobbit (less than a month till the movie!) and Off the Leash, local author Jean Ellen Whatley's account of her journey across America with her dog, Libby.
