Victim Confronts Armed Robber in South City, Gets Shot Three Times

This was just north of the Cherokee Street business district in Benton Park West.
At about 11 pm, a suspect approached.
He was reportedly a black male, about 5'8" tall with a thin build. He wore dark clothing, a ski mask, and a snow hat. He also had a handgun.
The robber told the pair that he wanted the female's purse.
The male victim got out of the car and approached the robber. The robber demanded his money, but the young Hispanic male refused.
The robber shot him twice in the right thigh and once in the left, then ran off.
The victim was taken to a hospital and is listed in stable condition.
The investigation is ongoing.
