Little Donavan Prom was not injured. He'd been left tucked in a car seat in a heated hallway of an apartment complex located in Breckenridge Hills (a small north county municipality).
Police soon learned that he and his mother, 30-year-old Ebony Jackson, had last been seen on Thursday night in East St. Louis. They'd driven up from Oklahoma City and tried to visit relatives.
So cops had found the baby -- but where was the mother?
Detectives found out that Ebony Jackson owned a white 2004 Mitshibishi Galant, according to the police and media reports. It was fitted with a GPS system.
They used that GPS system to finally find this car, which was parked in the 4400 block of Elmbank in north St. Louis. The car was towed to the St. Louis County crime lab.
After obtaining a search warrant, police opened the trunk and found Jackson's body inside.
Cops are now saying the body does show sign of trauma, but no cause of death has been determined.
A few interesting facts have come out about Jackson and the events leading up to her death:
1) Jackson reportedly has a history of cognitive difficulties caused by a brain tumor discovered when she was in her teens. She recovered to a large degree, but still had moments of disorientation.
2) Jackson dated Craig Craig Prom of Oklahoma City and together they had their baby, Donavan. Last week, before making the trip to East St. Louis last week, Jackson left a note for Prom saying she needed her space.
3) On Thursday, she went to her aunt's house but nobody was home. She later called, though, and said she was going to stay with a friend in north county but would come back around the next day. She never did.
