Stan Musial Bridge: Momentum Builds to Name Missouri-Illinois Connection After Late Cardinal

Meanwhile, U.S. Senators Claire McCaskill, of Missouri, and Dick Durbin, of Illinois, are also planning on introducing federal legislation to support this idea. Her office says that McCaskill will honor Musial and call for the bridge to be named after him on the Senate floor today.

Lamping says there will be broad, bipartisan support for the idea.

A breath of fresh air?

"It happens a lot more than you think," he says.

Stop naming bridges! The bridge should be named for the highway it is part of. "The I-70 Mississippi Bridge", "The I-70 Missouri River Bridge", "The I-270 Mississippi Bridge", and "The I-255 Mississippi Bridge" - then everyone knows what you are talking about without having to live here for a decade and break the code. Be tourist friendly! Sure it is boring, but it is a damn bridge!

they should Name the Stadium after Stan Musial that sounds better than naming a bridge after him.

I wouldn't want my name associated with a bridge to ESL.

John Early.. This is not Misssouri wanting the naming rights. This is Missouri looking to name the bridge after a great person that did tons for the area. And to remind you, risked his life serving for the US miltary in his prime!

Funny how Missouri didnt even want the bridge in the first place or want to pay their smaller share of the construction. Now Missouri wants the naming rights. Missouri the "me me me" state .

Naming the bridge for Stan the Man would be an awesome tribute to him. However, Illinois would have to agree on any name proposed for the bridge. I forsee a long drawn out cat fight for those naming rights. The best thing would be to let the public vote on naming the bridge from a list of proposed names.. And God forbid the bridge is named after a politician.
