Missouri Doctor Accused of Sexting, Assaulting Patient, May Have a Dozen More Victims
And police officials say that their investigation into Rajesh Malhotra, a 45-year-old Sikeston physician reveals that he might have a dozen more victims.
For now, the southeast Missouri doctor is not practicing and is instead in custody, facing charges of sexual assault and sexual misconduct.
And more charges are likely.
Scott County Sheriff Rick Walter announced in a press release that investigators began working on the case last week after they were contacted by a female patient of Malhotra.
She reported that he had "touched her in an inappropriate manner and sent her sexually harassing texts.

A second victim then came forward and also reported that the doctor had touched her in an inappropriate way during an examination.
Scott County investigators are working with officials from the Bureau of Narcotic's and Dangerous Drugs and officials say they have located a dozen additional victims. They are in the process of meeting with them as part of an ongoing investigation and Walter says that it is likely additional criminal charges will be filed.
In the meantime, Malhotra remains in Scott County Jail with his bond set at $75,000.

BENTON, MISSOURI - Scott County Sheriff Rick Walter said today that a Sikeston physician is in custody on sexually related charges.
Rajesh Malhotra (45) has been charged with deviate sexual assault, and three counts of sexual misconduct in the 1st degree.
Investigators began working on the case last week after being contacted by a female patient of Dr. Malhotra. The patient reported Malhotra touched her in an inappropriate manner and sent her sexually related text messages. A second victim came forward this week also reporting that Dr. Malhotra touched her in a sexual manner and made sexually related suggestions to her during the examination. Scott County investigators working with investigators from the Bureau of Narcotic's and Dangerous Drugs have located a dozen additional victims. Investigators are in the process of meeting with the additional victims as the investigation continues. Walter said it is likely additional criminal charges will be filed against Malhotra.
Rajesh Malhotra remains in the Scott County Jail. Bond has been set at $75,000.
