Dana Loesch Calls Women at St. Louis Gun-Control Rally Idiots; Mom Offers Angry Rebuttal

Dana Loesch.
Nikki Moungo, a 42-year-old Ballwin resident, is no stranger to gun violence. She is a long-time neighbor and close friend of the family of Matthew Pellegrini, who was eighteen years old when he was shot and killed in St. Louis. As we've reported, she's been very vocal in the fight for a tough sentence for Pellegrini's killer, supporting the family in and out of the courtroom.

For these reasons, Moungo was especially surprised and angry to find that her personal gun-control advocacy was at the center of a pro-gun conservative attack that ridiculed her as an out-of-touch suburban mom who doesn't know a thing about a gun violence.

The attacker? St. Louis' very own Dana Loesch.

Moungo reached out to Daily RFT after she stumbled upon this recent post penned by Loesch, a well-known conservative radio host, on the site Red State.

One of the premises of the piece by Loesch, the cofounder of the St. Louis Tea Party and the subject of our cover story back in 2010, is that the attendees of a Moms Demand Action gun-control rally in St. Louis are completely ignorant about urban violence.

Nikki Moungo at the gun-control rally.

She wrote: "What was the point of this rally? A chance for the limousine liberals to venture into the city for something other than a Cards/Rams/Blues game?"

Part of Loesch's evidence included photos and captions from the Post-Dispatch's coverage:

Captions from these photos mention safe, comfortable neighborhoods well beyond the limits of the city. This woman and this woman's neighborhood is so safe and comfortable that it served as the setting for "Parenthood." It was also named as one of the "best places to live." This woman's cushy neighborhood was named one of the "safest cities in America." I wouldn't expect these women to understand the realities of city life or the need for us city residents to protect ourselves.

Moungo is the woman with the cushy neighborhood -- and she's also pretty sure she's the woman in the sunglasses from these mocking tweets of Loesch:

"How dare she make assumptions about the way I look," says Moungo, who jokes that she is considering adopting the nickname "Sunglasses" for herself. "It's extremely superficial."

Loesh is trash--uneducated, hyperbolic trash...she craves the attention.

enough about gun control, call it gun-out-of-control.

I gave my credentials (I've read two articles about this person recently) and my opinion (she's mean and things she says/does probably aren't newsworthy) based on those credentials. You're welcome to choose whether or not you agree. And if you don't you're welcome to say so. I don't believe that you have to be an expert on a subject to have an opinion about it and if you have ever read facebook before then you've probably noticed that is the general consensus among users of this website. Of course you're free to disagree with that as well.

Why would you post your opinion about her if you have never even heard her show?

So... What do the Loesch's have to say to a gun toting mother who is for common sense gun laws? Nothing, apparently. If people can't be squeezed into their itty bitty box of stereotypes, they don't have a response, other than 'yehawhaw dumb liberal', instead of "hello fellow gun owner. I see you are a liberal. let's talk & find middle ground". By Dana's comments, it would seem she only cares about the safety of her own children within the boundaries of the city of St Louis. To hell with everyone else's children, just make sure Dana protects hers - speaks volumes. She is unsympathetic beyond the boundaries of her immediate, self imposed environment & own limited imagination. Where is her outrage at what happens to women & children beyond St Louis? As if danger & violence are only found in a metropolis? She's special because of this? Her children are more entitled than those in Africa who live with imminent violence daily? Are we not to speak out against crimes against African children since they don't share an American zipcode? Talk about disconnected! How does she know, exactly, who has had threats made against others or not, and how are her threats anymore serious than anyone else's? Dana Bubble is spot on - out of touch, and only concerned for herself & her own get; to hell w/everyone else, "I got mine" type of mentality. So much hate & self interest, she's a plague.

Based on the couple articles I've read recently this Dana lady seems like a mean ignorant radio personality. I'm not sure that what she says and does should be considered newsworthy.

Oh I'd seeing as I'm unaware myself, could you inform me as to why and how I'm a racist? Or was your sensitive political opinion lashing out agian rathet naïvely?

Vince Shaw

You almost amuse me Seth....your even more of a facebook douche-bag than myself....and far more close minded than those your verbally attacking. Your obviously committed if not possibly obsessed with your own opinion and you have to admire strong personalities. Sadly that image is totally dispelled by your expletive ladened personal attacks show a personality that's awfully fragile. Character faults take time but can be overcome......even social ones.

She decided that Republicans are right about everything - including abortion, gay marriage, taxes, etc. etc. etc. - because of 9/11. Seriously. Clearly, she's a fucking genius. "Oh no, an act of terrorism! Gay people sure are icky all of a sudden!"

Seth Bailey

Because you have such an awesome track record with women, you separated, rapist looking motherfucker. Oh, cool, browsing your page makes it clear you're also a racist. Eat shit and die.

Like a petulant child, Dana should be ignored. No reason to give her, or any of the other conservative chicken-little's, the attention they need to survive.

it's not a credible source. that is from people with an anti-gun agenda. give me a non-agenda source.

And again, clearly our laws against murder aren't working since there are still murders. Therefor, we should get rid of those laws since they aren't working. I love your worldview. Takes all the guesswork out of life so that more time can be spent on being a self-loathing poor person and watching Nascar. YEEEHAW GO 'MURKA

http://www.csgv.org/storage/documents/CSGV_2007_Gun_Show_1_Percent_Memo.pdf There y'go. The idea that guns used in crimes don't come from gun shows was the result of a rather old, poorly conducted poll of inmates (a group known for their honesty). Getting the guns illegally (by which I'm counting "from a fence/black market, from the streets (even though those could have technically been acquired legally initially) and "in a burglary") accounts for about 1/3 of the guns used in gun violence whereas quasi-legal means account for the rest. The ATF seized 5000 guns and made 121 arrests at gun shows in 2 years (2004-2006) and is concerned that the number of crime guns reported from gun shows is artificially extremely low because of the practice of straw purchases - someone buying a gun for someone else. With citations at the bottom. In summary, since you like to keep things concise, eat shit.

"The band's first self-titled album was released in March 1996. "Guilty", the first single, charted in the top 10 at nearly every Modern Rock Radio station in the country. The first album also produced top 10 singles Enough, Down and Blame." not bad for a "never-was". how did your band do in the 1990's, seth?

David Clarke

She lives in Webster/Kirkwood area, to answer your question

Seth Bailey
Seth Bailey

She's an anti-union idiot who sued her employer for Hostile Working Conditions (a concept that exists because unions fought for it). She's married to one of the guys from that never-was 90's band gravity kills. She decided she hates gay people and abortions because 9/11 happened. I've been aware of her for years. She's a D-list conservative radio jock.

Seth Bailey

I've posted links and citations and stuff before, but apparently the only links that fly to pro-gun types are those from Breitbart, Fox News and the Cato Institute so yeah, I'm pretty much over that. I'd much rather just focus on the fact that you are a grown ass man who can't be arsed to listen to nuanced opinions about anything. Being functionally retarded sure is something to be proud of in the ol' U S of A!

I think you find her to be....actually, I dont think you found her to be anything, because you had no idea who she was before the RFT told and also told you what to think.

Seth Bailey
Seth Bailey

A lot of guns used in crimes are purchased legally at gun shows since it's easier to get around background checks and such there. That's the sort of thing the recent gun legislation was trying to combat. The criminal in that case would have no choice in the matter. If he can't pass a background check, he doesn't get a gun. Sure, he can go get one illegally, but that's a lot harder and more dangerous than going to a gun show and maybe the extra hassle will persuade him to not go through with it. Welcome to the concept of deterrence.
