David Marler, a 32-year-old teacher at Soldan International Studies High School, is accused of having sex with a male student -- who also said he became dizzy after the teacher gave him some sort of "inhalant."

The St. Louis Police Department says that detectives are "investigating the possibility that others may have been victimized."

A graphic probable-cause statement that describes the allegations, on view below, says that Marler is facing a string of charges all tied to an encounter on the afternoon of April 21 at a residence near Cates Avenue and Union Boulevard, which is right by the school. Marler lives in Breckenridge Hills.

The St. Louis Public School District says in a statement that it is "aware of allegations of professional misconduct" by an employee at the school. As is district policy, Marler was immediately placed on leave when the allegations surfaced, and the district says it reported the matter to local law enforcement at the Missouri Division of Family Services for further investigation.

The statement also says:

The District will respond to this personnel matter in accordance with District policy and State law to ensure the protection of our students.

Saint Louis Public School District staff members are committed to providing an excellent education in a safe, nurturing environment for all students. The safety of students is of the highest priority at all District schools.

St. Louis police sent out this alert, and wrote on Facebook that there could be other victims:

He is facing five counts of second-degree statutory sodomy, five counts of sexual contact with a student and one count of first-degree endangering the welfare of a child. A judge has ordered the suspect held on $250,000 cash-only bond.

The probable-cause statement specifies that some of the charges relate to sexual conduct "on public school property."

Marler could not be reached for comment and does not yet have an attorney listed in court files.

The statement, in addition to allegations of sexual contact -- including sodomy, oral sex and more -- says:

Defendant provided Student A with some kind of inhalant and told Student A to inhale the fumes and that caused Student A to become dizzy and lightheaded.

The student is under the age of seventeen, police say.

Here's the full charges from the circuit attorney's office followed by the full statement from the district.
