St. Louis is home to one of the most beautiful city parks on Planet Earth!

So says a new top ten post from Yahoo, which has listed Forest Park as one of the best urban parks in the world, one of only four American locations to make it on the list.

Take that, haters!

The website's Travel & Leisure list puts St. Louis' Forest Park in the top ten alongside City Park in New Orleans, Golden Gate Park in San Francisco and Balboa Park in San Diego.

The list also includes some famous international parks like Park Güell in Barcelona, Spain and Ibirapuera Park in São Paulo, Brazil.

Forest Park deserves the recognition, the list says, because:

An ongoing $100 million restoration project is sprucing up Forest Park, with projects that include the renovation of the Jewel Box, an Art Deco greenhouse and event space. The former host site of the 1904 Summer Olympics and World's Fair now contains a zoo, art and history museums and a science center. Join one of the regular bird walks for the chance to see wild turkeys, great horned owls and more of the 100-plus species that have been documented here.

Here are some photos of our world-famous park via the Forest Park Forever page, which posted the news yesterday:

Why did you link to the article where you debased a love letter to the city published in the NY Times and insinuated there was even a bit of hatred towards Forrest Park?

Man, you don't really appreciate what you have in saint Louis until you move! I moved to norfolk, and the zoo here sucks compared to the one back home, and they charge to get in this one! Go to the park, go to the zoo, and truly enjoy it...

We do have several beautiful parks and the sculpture everywhere just adds to the beauty and artistry that our city is known for. If we could carry the spirit and pride from the parks into each neighborhood, this city would be amazing. I wish that each neighborhood would take one week to do gardening, and help a neighbor who maybe doesn't have a green thumb to plant some stuff. If we could just get this stupid crime thing under control our city would be so awesome.

The pavilion is a chill place to jam acoustic guitar because of the natural reverb.

I will say that after moving away, Forest Park is one of the things I do miss.  There is not a lot of places like it around the country.
