Cops: Lee Davis, Girls Basketball Coach At St. Charles Parish Had 100s Of Child Porn Images

Categories: Crime, News

Update below: Sigh.

Police officials this week say they have discovered that Lee Howard Davis, 47, a volunteer girls basketball coach at a parish in St. Charles possessed hundreds of images of child pornography -- all of prepubescent girls.

"We want to reassure the families of the kids he may have worked with that we don't have any reason to believe that any of those kids were victimized in any way," St. Charles County prosecuting attorney Timothy Lohmar tells Daily RFT, "but this is an extremely scary situation."

He continues, "It's startling when you have someone in charge of kids charged with this sort of offense."

Lohmar says that Davis coached fifth- and sixth-grade girls at Sts. Joachim and Ann Catholic School in St. Charles.

AOL first noticed the suspicious images, Lohmar says.

An investigation determined that he possessed a total of 134 pornographic photos, all of which depicted prepubescent girls, he says. The images were on his computer and thumb drive.

"He was cooperative in the investigation," he says.

The authorities issued warrants for his arrest on child-pornography charges yesterday. A $50,000 cash bond was set.

"We don't have any reason to believe he created these images," Lohmar adds.

Daily RFT today left messages at the school and with the Archdiocese of St. Louis. We'll update when we hear back.

The Post-Dispatch says that, according to the archdiocese, an investigation began six months ago at which point Lee voluntarily resigned.

"Since that time, every reasonable effort has been made to assure Mr. Davis' presence at school-related or athletic activities has involved no time alone with any children other than his own," Katie Pesha, executive director of communication and planning for the St. Louis Archdiocese, told the paper.

Update, 1:30 p.m.: A spokeswoman with the Archdiocese of St. Louis sent Daily RFT its full statement:

On June 4, 2013, Mr. Lee Davis, former Athletic Association treasurer and girls' basketball coach at St. Joachim & Ann Parish in St. Charles, was charged with possession of child pornography.

An investigation of Mr. Davis began approximately six months ago at which point he voluntarily resigned from all coaching and volunteer duties at the parish immediately. Since that time, every reasonable effort has been made to assure Mr. Davis's presence at school related or athletic activities has involved no time alone with any children other than his own.

No parish or school computers were used in any of this alleged activity by Mr. Davis.

The Archdiocese of St. Louis encourages all persons with reports of misconduct with a minor involving a member of the clergy or other church personnel to contact Deacon Phil Hengen, Director of Child and Youth Protection, at 314.792.7704 or the Missouri Child Abuse and Neglect Hotline at 800.392.3738 or law enforcement officials.

You have a society which maximizes sexuality. You have a male who is turned on by sex. You place him around pre pubescent girls.  Now, just what do you think would happen?  Actually, the Archdiocese is part of the problem and not part of the solution. The Catholic Church threw out the concept of sin with Vatican II.  Now, it is all based on the influences of the environment.  These young girls now know all there is to know from "watching the 'young and the restless'"  They are being taught by ex nuns and gay priests to maximize their potential.  Men are just playthings for their own sexual amusement and toys for their charms and targets of exploitation.  The Catholic Church needs to recover its backbone instead of inviting Joe Biden to the rectory for doughnuts and coffee.
