Mary Mullenix, 69.
Update: The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney's Office has charged Mary Mullenix, 69, in the stabbing death of her husband Ivan, 76, in Country Life Acres, a tiny village near Town & Country. Our original coverage of the incident is below.

The wife, police say, is facing one count of second-degree murder, one count of armed criminal action and another count of tampering with physical evidence. She was brought in for questioning after police were called to the bloody crime scene at around 1 a.m. Thursday morning. Her bond has been set at $500,000.

Officials say another family member had reported the domestic violence incident.

The probable cause statement says that after she stabbed her husband, she tried to wash the blood off of the knife, which is why she is facing a tampering charge.

Here's the full complaint filed yesterday in county circuit court, followed by our original coverage.

Nobody deserves to be abused or killed.  I myself had to "plan my exit" from my abusive marriage...I'm much better for it and so is he (I guess.)  At some point you wish your abuser would just drop dead, if you are not that lucky grow some balls and plan your escape.  If not...rot in prison for the rest of your life.  The choice seems simple to me but when you are sick like that sometimes there is no other choice.  Families need to be strong for each other...there is safety in numbers!  TAKE CARE OF EACH OTHER!!!!

No one will ever know what truly happened that night.  It is really a tragedy.  I knew Ike personally and the man I knew was a kind hearted soul.  You never know what someone is dealing with behind closed doors.   No one deserves to be stabbed to death.  It is a true tragedy and I will miss Ike.  I pray that God reveals truth.

If Ivan is the same person as 'Ike' then I can't think of a better candidate. Ike used to frequent a restaurant I worked at many years ago. He was disrespectful and condescending to the staff. He would get sloppy drunk and berate and belittle the employees. Ike was too drunk to realize that he should be embarrassed by his behavior. When he came in and I was the only server there, I refused to wait on him, the owner would serve him.

I hope it was painful jackass!

If Ivan is not 'Ike'...my bad Ivan.

@brian1810 That is a really mean comment Brian1810.  Watch your words of how you hope it was painful.  Very cruel.

@brian1810

Wow. So a guy being rude to you at a restaurant means he deserves to die a painful death.

Uhhh, you're a straight-up piece of shit, dude.

It went beyond rude, it was constantly abusive. I might be a piece of shit but so was Ike. I would put money on this, it will come out in court that there was some type of abuse goin on behind closed doors; be that mental, verbal, or physical. He was the type of guy that his own children were suing him at one point. Bad people get what they get. I don't treat those around me as inferior.

I stated that in my comment because I hope it hurt. That comment neither berates nor belittles him, it is simply my wish for Ike. I don't need to demonstrate compassion for him. It is a fact that he berated and belittled people, thus making him a piece of shit, an opinion to which I am entitled. I am certainly not abusive, nor a hypocrite. I do not berate or belittle people for making a living. With that said, you can wish any type of painful death upon me, that is your prerogative.

@brian1810

If nobody deserves to be berated or belittled than why did you state in your comment above "I hope it was painful jackass!" and stating that Ike was a piece of shit.

So according to your argument you are abusive and are clearly a hypocrite. I would suggest you just stop talking before people start wishing painful deaths on you for being such an "abusive" person.

Sara, nobody deserves to be berated and belittled. In addition, if it turns out this guy was abusive towards his wife...as he was abusive towards people he doesn't even know, how will you feel about your ivory tower argument? Will you then be validating abusive relationships? You all can't have it both ways.

@brian1810  If you don't consider saying someone deserves to die a painful death as "shitting" on someone, then you are clearly someone who needs to be belittled and berated.

I don't shit on people...so...

@brian1810 "Bad people get what they get." It must be some kind of charmed life you live having everything so simple in black and white.

At least until someone stabs you because they think you're a bad person.
