Rush's Limbaugh's gleaming and prominently displayed bust.
It's time to select the next inductees to the Hall of Famous Missourians, and the state is using democracy to do it!

Controversy arose around last year's selection after then House Speaker Steven Tilley chose conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh, eventually eliciting some angry petitions. Limbaugh's bust currently resides inside the Missouri State Capitol rotunda with the others. (Daily RFT will wait while you giggle at "Rush's Limbaugh's bust.")

This year, however, House Speaker Tim Jones is giving the power to the people to select two new famous Missourians. Jones will pick the third. The winners will join a diverse selection of the state's finest, including Walt Disney, President Harry Truman, Mark Twain and abolitionist and freed slave Dred Scott. Voting is open through October 31.

Below, Daily RFT breaks down this year's candidates. You can vote here. Let us know in the comments who you think deserves to win!

Sue Shear Institute for Women in Public Life.

Sue Shear served 26 years as a state representative, and in that time she introduced more than 350 pieces of legislation, many addressing women's and children's issues. Missouri could use a legislative voice like Shear's right about now, as the state just received a D+ for its treatment of women.

"Steve, what does that statistic have to do with anything? California is also the most heavily populated state by leaps and bounds so it would stand to reason that they would have the highest number of rapes." it's the largest populated state filled with liberals, so it would stand to reason that a state full of liberals...if they are so good for women...would have one of the lowest amount of rapes. but, i know that liberals refuse to accept any fact that makes them look bad. i understand.

Saying that Charlie Parker was from Missouri would be like saying that Redd Fox was from Chicago because he was raised there.

Charlie Parker was not born in Missouri.

Steve, what does that statistic have to do with anything? California is also the most heavily populated state by leaps and bounds so it would stand to reason that they would have the highest number of rapes. Statistically you have almost double the chance of being raped in Texas as you do in California. None of that has anything to do with the Democratic party's stance on women's issues. No wonder you're a fan of Rush, neither of you make a lick of sense! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_U.S._states_and_territories_by_population

this hideous "bust" should be removed, because no self respecting Missourian would want this.. he is not worthy of HALL OF FAME status..

being denied coverage doesn't mean not being able to get something. again, she was a spoiled brat hauled in by liberals like obama and their "war on women" scare tactic.

No. No . NO .. she was a woman concerned with the fact that women her age were being denied proper coverage to make birth control affordable. You obviously didnt listen to her speech, but you sure did listen to Rush didnt you. She talked about how her close friend had PCOS, and the BC she was taking helped her deal with that pain. Women with severe reproductive issues were being denied coverage for drugs they needed to have reproductive health. She doesn't want it FREE. she wants it AFFORDABLE. meaning that the insurance companies should stop worrying about losing profits and giving the patients the proper coverage they deserve.. BUt hey.. you know.. what are FACTS anyway.. Stop listening to RUSH. he is toxic.

"for testifying before Congress about the benefits of birth control and contraception." ummm...no. no, she was a spoiled brat that said it was sooooooo unfair that she had to pay for her OWN birth control and contraception.

I think that Rush Bust should be put outdoors, so Birds (& whomever else) can show it, it's proper respect. sic
