Verruckt, the world's tallest water slide.
Need a summer dream to get you through months of Missouri winter? We've got just the thing.

Schlitterbahn is building the world's tallest and fastest water slide in Kansas City. Named for the German word for "insane," Verruckt has 264 steps leading to the top, where four-person rafts will take riders down at 65 mph.

Verruckt is a one-of-a-kind ride, so Schlitterbahn had to design a specific conveyor to transport the rafts seventeen stories in the air to the top, according to the company's Schlitterblog.com.

The ride's exact height is still a secret, but officials promise it will be taller than the current record-holder in Brazil.

The ride opens May 23.

Do they expect each person to lean or lay back? That's an awfully steep hill to be seated and not have to worry about flipping over. Idk???

Haha! I had a really terrible experience at the hurricane harbor this past summer.

I guess most people don't take the time to read the article. You will be in a four-person raft.

Actually, they are going to have mini-rafts that people will slide down in because the friction from that kind of descent would cause serious burns to your backside. Which is worse than a little water up your bunghole...lol

Who cares...I hope they have safety as a priority building this ridiculous thing. Then again it's in boring ass Kansas...need I say more?

I live about 15 minutes from Schlitterbahn, and watching the assembly of Verr├╝ckt has been nothing less than impressive (it now also boasts color-changing/strobe pattern LED lighting along the entire base, and down to/past the secondary hill). I'll be in line come the end of May.

I went the Schlitterbahn in KC two summers ago. It was a joke. It was unfinished (not advertised that way) and not worth the money and drive. I see it looks about the same but with large slide. Yay!!

This looks terrifying!! I'm a fan of roller coasters, but not a fan of my wet body shooting uncontrollably fast down a mountain!!
