Wow ... most of these are in South City, close to where I live. Moral of the story - avoid Kingshighway, period.

I'm not a fan of these cameras, but I was hit by a driver who ran a red light and if it wasn't for a good samaritan who pulled over, it would have been a he said/she said. Can they actually use these things for situations like that? Or is this just ATS PR?

That intersection has always been awful it needs to me redone for the amount of volume that travels through it.

I didn't know they were video camera until I got one of the tickets and saw the video online. Never paid it ;)

Several of those cars looked like they were burning out after the accident

An ICYMI when I actually missed it! That plus crashes = double win.

And yet not one of those cameras stopped any of those accidents. Just another way to rape the tax payer.

Ironically, if the argument is that redlight cameras make people drive safer, one might infer less accidents. Ironically the red light cameras caught a bunch of accidents, so are they making it safer?

It looks to me like most of these drivers were just not paying attention...probably texting or even maybe even impaired. Red light cameras will NEVER stop that from happening...those are called '"accidents". What a red light camera is supposed to stop are "on purposes"....which is not clearly shown in these videos.

All the flickering lights taking pics while driving is annoying too

I second Aubrey. Clearly the company who makes money by running red light cameras has positive data to show. Maybe RFT could do some investigative work and compare the decrease in red light camera tickets with any changes in fender benders or other accidents at these same intersections.

Doesn't seem a camera stops people from not paying attention and driving through an intersection, nor does it stop anyone who is determined to run the light... as seen from the cameras on the light.

It's such a transparent crock-of-crap claiming that revenue generating Red Light Cameras will somehow, mysteriously "prevent" drivers from running red lights and crashing.   Do their makers and financial beneficiaries of the fines they produce actually think people are that stupid to believe that asinine, baseless statement ?

The most infuriating thing about this video is that not at any time was the light green or yellow when these particular accidents occurred. People are just blatantly running a light that is clearly red and causing serious accidents. Morons!

I am disappointed in the city governments. They keep telling us that the red light cameras will not let these type of things happen.

unfortunately these red light cameras were strategically placed in intersections where the light timings are shorter than what has been deemed the safest amount of time where all lanes have a red light to help clear out the intersection. The light technology is also outdated by at least 10 years since finding people don't run red lights as often with larger lights, and larger back plates. Now they are using these engineering mistakes to exploit St. Louis citizens with 100 dollar fines.

Yeah but those crashes were caused by the light not people actually driving the cars. Oh wait I don't actually believe that because I'm not retarded. Those people driving need to be put in prison.

How many accidents occur at red lights when people slam on the brakes on yellow at a red light intersection?

It's jus ATS BS. Get yourself a Dashcam.

@billj598   ATS proves the case against their cameras. If they truly prevented red light running and crashes, they would not be able to provide video proving otherwise.
