Fabulous. Another waste of legislative time. They should have used the time to set up an affordable state health exchange instead of trying to kill the ACA by not participating or taking subsidies. Morons.

Since when did the Governor of MO or the U.S. AG have the power to arbitrarily set tax law without a vote of the State Legislature or the Congress of the United States ??  All you whiners commenting negatively completely fail to realize that  Constitutional laws were bypassed here, especially those that are in place to protect you from tax-tyranny.

Impeachment is a very serious thing. It is not something to throw around lightly. Apparently, just being a democrat is reason to be "impeached". What a joke!

I'm confused -- I thought impeachment was for elected officials who are breaking the law, not following it.

This is my line in the sand. Marshall has crossed over. Nixon is standing in the way of these ALEC miscreant teaparty people and they hate him for it.

I hope this is a last gasp power grab from the retrograde bigots (aka conservatives) who want to keep Missouri lagging far behind. By the way, Gov. Nixon isn't violating the "Missouri Hates Fags" Amendment of the State constitution. Gay marriage remains banned here. In reality, he ensured that state tax filing stayed congruent with the federal filing, as it always has been. Forget it, actual facts won't convince conservatives. (See: the Bill Nye-Ken Ham debate.)

I'm not proud to live in Missouri when I read stuff like this. Bigotry pure and simple. Do we not have more important issues to tackle in this backward state than what kind of couples file income taxes? Pathetic. Amend the Constitution? That has to be done by a vote of the people? Good luck with that.

Marshall is going to impeach himself as well for trying to impeach...

At this point, I think its a fact that the GOP will only do something if it attacks a non issue such as gay marriage.  Time to remove them all and get people who will worry about REAL problems.

I sure wish I had the power and position to go around spending hard earned tax payer money on ridiculous crap like this! How about fighting to get the unaccredited schools re-accredited and , helping the people that don't have it, get some! What about alternative energy? what about the radioactive waste in the landfill in Bridgeton? What about the fire in the landfill in Bridgeton? This dumbo-ear'd fool needs a clue!

Austin Ferguson that was my question also, but coming from this news source, that was probably double checked and allowed through

I know of a few couple that can file federal taxes as a couple, but state returns must be filed as single due to laws like this. Like I said, I don't agree, but I will take a state-wide vote to change the MO Constitution.

So as long it is a man and woman filing together it is ok,but if they are same sex it is not ok?? Still FN stupid

These backwoods Hoosier Missourians will be the last to pass Marriage Equality, and embarrass the sh*t out of the rest of us in the face of the entire country. I'm sure there are a few southern states that will embarrass themselves, too. For an extracurricular activity, scroll all the way down to "Reference #13), and if you read nothing else, read the last full sentence of that reference. I've committed that one to memory for much future reference and use. I have a friend in British Columbia, Canada that has heard the term "Hoosier" in the St. Louis vernacular, but she never had any idea of it's origins. I told her that I didn't know whether to be proud or to be sad! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hoosier

Though I don't agree with denying same sex married couples the same rights as anyone else, refer to Article 1, Sec 33 of the MO constitution: "That to be valid and recognized in this state, a marriage shall exist only between a man and a woman." The accusation does hold weight under MO law.
