"Hey, wait up for me! I wanna bust outta here, too."
The crowd at the Moolah Shrine Circus was too much for three pachyderm pals Saturday afternoon.

Loud noises spooked the circus elephants, who made a break for the employees-only parking lot, damaging several cars and trailers, witnesses told KSDK NewsChannel 5.

No people or animals were injured during the escape. Most of the circusgoers were inside the show when the elephants broke out.

Trainers rounded the elephants up after about 45 minutes, and circus organizers released a statement saying "they are now resting comfortably in their compound at this time."

"We saw all these people running after them, and they were all screaming 'Stop, stop,' and several of the circus people were trying to run alongside them," onlooker Karyn Tunnicliff says, according to KSDK. Other eyewitnesses say trainers used food to tempt and tame the trunked turncoats.

The elephants were back in the show Sunday.

And since everyone loves a story about a gang of circus runaways, the elephants' story spread across international media over the weekend, popping up on CNN, the Guardian, International Business Times and NBC News.

St. Charles news is not St. Louis news no more than Belleville news is St. Louis news.

St. Charles was in the news... not St. Louis. They are not the same. Sorry. As for the elephants... i'm thinking humans are entertaining enough. Let those animals be "free" as they can, now. Zoos, perhaps.

They aren't meant to live in captivity.

I feel so bad for circus animals. I really want to go for all the other stuff, but I just can't do it cause of the animals. It's just wrong.

"little gem?" seriously poor choice in words there, RFT. these circus elephants are horribly abused and break loose b/c they jus' can't handle anymore. seriously. is this how you would react if we had a "bombing" on a event?

Many countries have banned circus animals. Time for us to start thinking about why they would do that.
