New Sex-Abuse Charges Filed Against Catholic Priest Xiuhui Joseph Jiang

Rev. Xiuhui Joseph Jiang, 31.
Rev. Xiuhui "Joseph" Jiang faces new charges of sexually abusing a Catholic school child five months after a judge dismissed a different case with similar allegations.

Jiang, 31, faces two counts of first-degree statutory sodomy for having sexual conduct with a boy younger than fourteen at the St. Louis Cathedral School, in the 4400 block of Maryland Avenue. The boy told investigators Jiang abused him twice in a school bathroom between July 2011 and August 2012, according to court documents.

Jiang voluntarily surrendered to police Thursday, and the Archdiocese of St. Louis revoked his canonical privileges while he faces the charges.

The boy's family reported the abuse through the Missouri Child Abuse and Neglect Hotline, according to the archdiocese. The family has claimed for the past year that their child was bullied by other students but only raised sexual abuse allegations against Jiang this week.

In November a judge dropped child-endangerment and witness-tampering charges against Jiang after the court decided the priest had never been alone with the victim, who claims Jiang sexually assaulted her when she was fifteen.

Before those charges were dropped, the victim's family sued the archdiocese and Archbishop Robert Carlson for allowing a sexual predator to serve as a priest and have unsupervised contact with their daughter.

The lawsuit claims Jiang used Scripture to manipulate his victim into submitting to sexual assault on several occasions, including in a rectory parking lot, and tried to leave the victim's family $20,000 in hush money.

"In November a judge dropped child-endangerment and witness-tampering charges against Jiang after the court decided the priest had never been alone with the victim..." I held off supporting Jiang the last time because some priests are guilty and they belong in jail. But it became clear that Jiang was innocent and the charges were part of an archdiocesan shakedown for money. I guess having been accused once, this priest is the natural target of another accusation. Remember, "THE COURT DECIDED THE PRIEST HAD NEVER BEEN ALONE WITH THE VICTIM." Nevertheless, the accusations were enhanced every month the archdiocese refused to settle. Clearly it was all fiction.

Tell this family to go buy a lottery ticket. The money they 're after is coming out of the collection basket. No money from the flock

May the heavenly intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary and Saint Joseph her most chaste spouse obtain for all those involved in the criminal and civil cases surrounding Fr. Joseph Jiang every spiritual good they need that these matters might be resolved in a manner most pleasing to Almighty God.

Fr. Jiang is my friend, and I pray for him daily. Even so, I pray and hope for mercy, grace, and justice for *all* involved.

I would encourage readers here to remember that even though Fr. Joseph belongs to an of late oft despised profession -- the Catholic priesthood -- he has the same rights as any of us and should be presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Our hearts are with these victims and their families. It takes a lot of courage to speak up and take action about being sexually abused as a child. This is not an easy thing to do, but it's very rare that a child predator has only one victim. Some have many. Child predators need to be kept far away from kids forever. So let's hope that anyone who may have knowledge or may have been harmed by Fr. Joseph Jiang, will find the courage to speak up, get help, and contact law enforcement, no matter how long ago it happened. Do not report your abuse to the church officials, they are not the proper officials to be investigating child sex crimes.
Silence is not an option anymore, it only hurts, and by speaking up there is a chance for healing, exposing the truth, and therefore protecting others.

Let’s hope that every person who saw, suspected or suffered clergy sex crimes and cover ups in St. Louis – by Fr. Jiang or others - will find the courage and strength to speak up, call police, expose wrongdoing, protect kids and start healing.

Here's an idea; let's give our children to a death cult populated by chid rapists.

Andrew when a teacher does it they get prosecuted. The catholic church has covered up this for a long time. Willfully hiding and relocating molesters so that they can continue their abuse of children.

It is way past time for the attorney general to come in and investigate here. This has been going on for years in St. Louis.

The Archbishop needs to be held responsible for this.

@michaelsbradleyjr  Like how you pray for the accused and not the victim.  Make sure to pray to the future "Saint" John Paul II, while you're at it.

@michaelsbradleyjr  Do you REALLY believe Mary remained a virgin after Jesus was born?  Where in the Bible does it even come close to saying anything like that where it is not a total stretch of the imagination.
(Ezekiel 44:2)

@dalediversity  Whether he did it or not, the sad thing is there are two groups who have posted here who have already made up their minds as to his guilt without seeing a shred of evidence.

No evidence? The slightest bit of research on line will show that prosecutors have a phone message, text messages and a $20,000 check that Fr. Jiang left with one of his victim's parents (after he allegedly admitted his crimes to them).

And remember: there are two accusers - a boy and a girl. Both sets of parents believe the kids. Two sets of police officers believe the kids. Two sets of prosecutors believe the kids. SNAP members believe the two kids. And St. Louis' most experienced clergy sex abuse victims believes at least one of the two kids.

All of these people are wrong? I doubt it very strongly
