Grocery Clerk Shoots Cook at Northway Market: Police

A fight between two grocery-store employees turned violent Saturday night.

A 35-year-old clerk shot a cook once in the leg around 10:30 p.m. at the Northway Market, a full-service neighborhood grocery store on the north side, according to St. Louis Metropolitan Police. The victim, a 45-year-old man, is in stable condition.

Police say the two men had a verbal fight before the clerk shot the cook.

Police arrested the shooter at the store without incident and recovered a gun at the scene.

Date/Time: 06/14/14 @ 2233

Victim: 45-year old black male

Suspect: 35-year old white male

Officers responded to the above location to a call for a shooting, wherein the clerk at
the store shot an employee. The victim, a cook at the store, was shot once in the leg by
the suspect, a clerk at the store. The victim was transported to a local hospital and is
listed as stable. The suspect was taken into custody on the scene without incident.
Investigation revealed the victim and suspect were having a verbal altercation when the
suspect shot the victim. The gun was recovered at the scene. The investigation is
