Milwaukee Brewers' All-Star Game Ad Proves Everyone is Jealous of the St. Louis Cardinals
The Milwaukee Brewers just can't take it anymore.
Barbara More on flickr Don't take it personally, Yadi. Everyone's just jealous.
After five consecutive years of watching St. Louis Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina win a spot on the National League All-Star roster, Brewers catcher Jonathan Lucroy is fighting back in a mudslinging video worthy of a political campaign:
"Do you want another St. Louis Cardinals catcher to star in an All-Star game? Isn't there a better way?" the ad says while the sound of a baby crying plays over footage of Molina. "Cast a ballot for change. Cardinals fans need to know that enough is enough."
The spot is actually pretty hilarious, especially because Molina's strong and early lead in this year's All-Star voting is leaving Cardinals fans pretty confident their favorite catcher will maintain his hegemony.
As of Sunday, Molina earned the second-most votes in the entire National League, leading San Francisco Giants catcher Buster Posey with just over 2 million votes. Lucroy ranks third with more than 1.1 million votes.
But with the game only a month away, Lucroy isn't going down without a fight. Not only does he make a quickie cameo in his All-Star ad shaking his head at the Cardinals, he also adds his support in true political fashion: "I'm Jonathan Lucroy, and I approve this message."
So good for you, Lucroy. Cute video. And now, if you'll excuse us, we're going to go vote for Molina for 2014 National League All-Star catcher.
