The robbers attacked their victims between Ballpark Village and the Hilton St. Louis at the Ballpark.
Ballpark Village has become one of downtown's most bustling late-night areas, but four armed men tried to take advantage of that early Monday morning by robbing revelers at gunpoint.

Four gunmen -- including one in a gray hooded sweatshirt -- driving a red, mid-1990s model Chevrolet Blazer and temporary Illinois tags stuck-up and robbed several people in a ten-minute span around 12:30 a.m. Monday morning, according to police.

The first call came at 12:24 a.m. from a man and woman reporting a robbery in the 2100 block of Lucas Avenue, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Then, police got two more calls for help. At 12:31 a.m., five men walking along Broadway near Ballpark Village reported they were robbed by three men, one who was holding a pistol. Four minutes later, a man and his girlfriend reported a robbery by gunmen matching the same description in the 2000 block of Delmar Boulevard, about a six-minute drive northwest through downtown from Ballpark Village.

Police haven't released many details on the robberies yet, but Daily RFT will update this story as more information and the police reports become available.

Downtown West resident here, I walk the dog every night to BPV, have never felt unsafe or if I was being threatened. I should also note that I live in the 2000 block of Delmar, where one of the crimes was committed, and feel completely safe. It's tough to see it but things are getting better year after year but sometimes stupid people do stupid shit. I won't be moving out of the City any time soon.

as a STL Expat, I can tell you that whenever you tell someone you are from St. Louis they ask you if it is as dangerous as they have heard. People now look at St. Louis like its DETROIT. Baseball is one of the largest tourist draws, now not even that it safe? --Great.

This is why I have a conceal carry license and carry every time I leave home. No, I'm not afraid of anyone. I'm going to protect my family and myself from thugs that have no remorse. Many Cards fans are too young to remember what happened to the old Sportsman's Park. It was the same scenario. So many fans were getting robbed and assaulted near the Ballpark that attendance went to hell and they had to move it.

You've got to be fucking kidding me. If it was you, or one of your friends who had been victim to such recent crimes downtown, that headline would not be so funny. And trust me, I am all about finding the hilarity in things, but that is fucking ignorant.

Everyone yells about the police not being there enough, they also yell at the police for being there to much. Americans are batshit stupid when it comes to what they want. Luckily no one had a concealed weapon or a lot of people would have ended up dead. The thugs suck, also this headline sucks...do your research RFT, crime and murder have been happening around the area long before the BV was even a thought, then when it was a parking lot and softball field. I guess all of the murders there beforehand don't count as actual crime? It took ballpark village? They are robbing now not murdering, it's a step up.

5. Subdivisions (3), (4), (5), (6), (7), (8), (9), and (10) of subsection 1 of this section shall not apply to persons who are engaged in a lawful act of defense pursuant to section 563.031. Is the relevant law for carrying while drinking

Zac Nevill MO passed a new law last year, it's no longer a crime to carry while totally wasted as long as you're not being threatening with your gun in order to protect legit self defense while drinking. At most you'd be looking at a 100$ fine for carrying into an establishment that doesn't allow guns. Not a bad price to pay for your life

Description of the car but no description of robbers ? That must make them black..If you want someone to be caught then give a description. You can't tell me no one saw these men.

but like the saying goes... I'd rather be tried by 12 than carried by 6!

If you shoot someone even in self defense and you weren't allowed to carry, I would imagine that would throw a wrench in your defense. Furthermore... If you have BAC level above the legal limit and you shoot someone (still in self defense) your defense will be fucked. Most states make it illegal to carry in establishments that serve alcohol or bars for that obvious reason.

Well there goes the Cardinals' home fan base attendance...down down down in a blazing ring of fire. So discouraging

No illegal checkpoints do NOTHING to stop drinking and driving. They are only used to generate $$$. Stopping crime doesnt generate $$$ at the rate as stopping innocent ppl driving down the road. And NO im not for ppl driving drunk.

The Police were to busy doing DUI checkpoints to be anywhere near where crime might be.

Brothers and Sisters. When you're out, stay vigilant. If possible, and legal, carry some means to defend yourself. Stay in groups, don't flash cash, cards.. yadda yadda. Be safe and don't be dumb is where I'm going with this. With years of self defense training, I know there is no such thing as a "random attack". The criminal choses his targets, the unsuspecting, the inattentive, the dumb. Keep your damn nose out of your phone, and know whats going on aroun you 360 degrees. Don't ALLOW yourself to become a victim.

The headline doesn't make sense.  Only one of the robberies was even near ballpark village, but not inside it.  The other two robberies were some odd 17 blocks away in a not so great neighborhood where you would expect robberies.  What does this have to do with ballpark village?
