Prison Work Crew Finds Million-Dollar Marijuana Stash On Side of Road

Did you or somebody you know accidentally leave more than 600 pounds of marijuana on the side of a road? Because if you did, we have some bad news: Cops got it.

The St. Joseph News-Press reports that a prison work crew cleaning up the side of a road near St. Joseph in northeast Missouri stumbled upon a substantial sativa stash.

"In all, there were 678 one-pound marijuana packages and three large sacks of loose weed," Mike Donaldson, commander of the Buchanan County Drug Strike Force, tells the News-Press.

Donaldson says the street value is around a cool million dollars if sold by the ounce.
The marijuana bricks were in garbage bags hidden in a deep ravine. At first, the crew leader thought somebody in the area might be illegally dumping trash, so he opened up a bag to see if he could identify who was doing the dumping.

But not only did the prisoners find weed, but they found really good weed, says Donaldson.

"The Strike Force believes the marijuana was locally cultivated and harvested," Donaldson tells the News-Press. "It's definitely not ditch weed."

Despite the high quality of the herbs, the Buchanan County Drug Strike Force claims they burned it all.

So somebody in St. Joseph is in big trouble.

Meanwhile, in Colorado, the state collected $4,775,679 in marijuana-related sales taxes during the month of June, according to the Denver Business Journal. Not counting July's revenue, Colorado has raked in $25,307,067 in marijuana taxes since recreational sales became legal on January 1.

Yes Justin but keep in mind that soon the pharma companies will patent a pill that will be similar to marijuana, have much worse side effects, be 10X the price and it will be legal so they can rake in the money without a second thought!

No but I wish. $1 million in cannabis could help me keep my functional disorder at bay for a good year maybe. Instead, I wake up every morning with pain and spasms in my stomach because pharmaceuticals can't help me.

Did they try to tack on another 20 years to the non-violent inmate that found it?

Actually the weed in Colorado is more expensive. It's cheaper if you get it medically.
