By The Numbers: 93 Percent of Protesters Arrested Monday Night Aren't From Ferguson

Police arrest protesters in Ferguson Monday night.
Of the 52 people arrested by St. Louis County police in Ferguson during protests Monday night and early Tuesday morning, only four are from Ferguson.

Most were arrested on the charge of refusal to disperse, says St. Louis County Police spokesman officer Brian Schellman. Police arrested one person on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, two for having active warrants or failing to appear at a court date, and one for interfering with a law-enforcement officer.

Another 47 people were arrested during protests Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, according to the New York Times, though demonstrations were much more peaceful than the night of gunshots and tear gas that rocked Ferguson on Tuesday.

Here's a breakdown of the people arrested between 8 a.m. Monday and 8 a.m. Tuesday:

From the state of Missouri:
Florissant, MO (7)
Ferguson, MO (4)
Jennings, MO (2)
Flordell Hills, MO (1)
Creve Coeur, MO (1)
Hazelwood, MO (1)
Bel-Ridge, MO (1)
City of St. Louis, MO (15)
Unincorporated St. Louis County (6)

From outside of Missouri:
Washington, D.C. (1)
Illinois (4)
Maryland (1)
California (1)
Virginia (1)
New York (4)
Alabama (1)
Texas (1)

"It is of note that 93 percent of those arrested were not Ferguson residents," Schellman says. "Of all those arrested, 27 percent were not residents of Missouri."

@RiverfrontTimes so, basically, almost only the people NOT from ferguson are going there to incite violence and get arrested? Opportunists..

OMG what is the big deal with the "where they were from" crap?  This is a national issue.  Should we kick all the people that aren't from St Louis out of Cardinals games?  And most of those areas listed are right near Ferguson.
What would really be significant is if you listed how many protesters were arrested for "Failure to Disperse" which is a direction violation of the First Amendment.  They keep saying they are arresting rioters and looters and protestors, by their own account most are "failure to disperse,"  I sincerely hope that all of these illegal arrests will be challenged all the way to the Supreme Court.  The police, Ferguson City Council, etc, have broken the highest law in the land, violated the people of this country and treated media and protestors like terrorists.
Please make another list of the actual arrest charges.
I mean really, Flordell Hills and Jennings are OUT OF TOWN? Ridiculous, RFT, really.

I want to know if they trow the book at the ones who were busted firebombing the police or will it be just a slapped hand.

So other people wanted to support Ferguson? Is that supposed to be a bad thing?

For the sake of comparison, 75% were from either St. Louis County, or St. Louis City.

If the police would only use their loudspeakers to blast Michael Jacksons' 'Thriller' at the crowd. Then all the Blacks would instantly assemble in a dancing line and start doing The Thriller Dance.

Once they are hippin' an a hoppin' in unison, the cops simply announce they are arresting all those with outstanding warrants for nonpayment of child support.

End of riots ----  as 3/4 of the Black men run back home to their own hood ,and their aunt'ies basement for a round of blunts.

I knows my peoples.

@RiverfrontTimes If the Gov want to be so strident, he should proclaim that non-Missouri arrestees can expect extended free accomodations

@RiverfrontTimes if media hadn't turned this into something huge, maybe idiots wouldn't have traveled here to make it even worse

St Louis has been spending massive amounts of taxpayer money trying to get tourists, shouldn't we be thanking these people for coming here and spending money to stay in hotels, eat out, and, oh yeah EXPRESS AND DEFEND OUR FIRST AMENDMENT RIGHTS?
