Live Blog: 31 Arrested, 2 Shot, Police Under Attack in Ferguson

Categories: Michael Brown

9 p.m. - Scott Olson, the Getty Images photographer who was arrested, is now free.

So far, protesters marching up and down West Florissant Avenue are calm, peaceful and wary, says Riverfront Times reporter Danny Wicentowski. Demonstrators, including parents with children, are walking on the sidewalks or gathering in parking lots, and "it looks like the cops are letting people do their thing," he says.

We may be in turmoil, y'all, but this is still the Lou.

People wonder why the black Community is so angry. As police get paid leave, paid vaction, or at most "desk duty", with no real repercussions for their actions. Hardly ever are they held accountable... I believe, that rioting and looting will not help the situation. However, what do people honestly think will come out of these situations? It is inevitable. With any community. Anger intensifies, and when they can't hurt those that are hurting them, they turn to physical objects; stores, cars, building's, etc. Then people take advantage of that situation and loot. The police and government do not care for the concerns of the people. In every situation, they do their best to silence them, and sweep it under the rug with no resolution or real justice. Citizens are tired of injustice. They want answers for this blatant corruption. Officer's are sworn to protect, though they are more concerned about SERVING. This is what a For-Profit Prison System is creating. When there has always been injustice, it is now getting out of hand, with officers, power, and profit. And why are they allowed a No-Fly Zone? Or to refuse Media Coverage? So that they are not on tape slaughtering more civilians? If they demand no evidence, there is a reason. Where is the Freedom of Press and Freedom of Assembly, that the constitution clearly states? This does not happen only in the African-American Community. Where is the outrage at police brutality for all Communities? It happens to black, white, hispanic, lgbt, homeless, those with mental illness, children, pets, etc. EVERY DAY. The answer may not be rioting. However, the answer IS to get involved. And demand reform. Citizens are tired of their demands to stay silent.

To protect the commanding officers that don't know the difference between their ass and a hole in the wall... NG is only holding a perimeter on the command center.

They don't need a curfew, the Military uses tear gas every night to send them all home.......Using phoney reasons for throwing the gas. Treating the people like ANIMALS.

I want to thank those who serve and protected. Thank you for trying to bring peace and some kind of normal back to that area.

I was watching this live and no one ever heard or said anything about shots fired except the police and police chief. So it is probably true.. None of the news cameras heard anything and not one news reporter said anything about a gun shot. Just another way to "legally" push them off the streets

RFT, I hope you're following your stories closely, because the national guard was at the command post until at least 1:30am. Shame on the media who are reporting inaccurate information when they're NOT down there. Thank you #Vice for risking your life to report what's REALLY going on.

Hold him accountable, then it will stop. What if it was you're son or brother or boyfriend or husband, would you feel differently?

The 1st amendment guarantees the right to "peaceably assemble", not "assemble & f*#k sh*t up". Everyone crying about LE RESPONSE needs to look at a picture of the QT.

I watched it last night live stream and you definitely saw a certain group of vandals doing dumb shit including throwing glass bottles, plastic bottles, running up on news people, pulling up street signs throwing them, bus stop signs and ignoring the city of Ferguson noise ordinance......so damn sad that all we do is blame others and support violence...shit is embarassing.

Gee, is that the same Quik Trip that got burned down the very first night of Rioting and Looting that prompted this Police Response in the first place? Then cry me a fucking river, "...don't be start'n nothing, and there ain't gonna be noth'n"

Just go home! The idiots are hiding in the actual peaceful protesters and if they just go home they will have no one to be camoflauged in. You have made your point and it's time for the innocent people to sleep.

If they would stay out of the street they wouldn't get gassed. You have the right to assemble freely, you don't have the right to block the street.
