Shmeers Cafe has closed. The University City establishment, a rare kosher-certified vegetarian restaurant, opened in 2004. Owner Gershon Schwadron had wanted to garner the support of the area's large population of Orthodox Jews. But as I detailed in a previous blog post, his plan had run into trouble.
Meanwhile, those who prefer lemongrass to pepperoni can rejoice: Thai Pizza Co. (608 Eastgate Avenue, 314-862-4429) has reopened in the Delmar Loop. The restaurant has expanded to twice its original size. Check back here for an updated Tip o' the Cap review later this year.
