Tip o' the Cap: Chipotle

Not only does Riverfront Times provide a full-length restaurant review each week, it also offers capsule reviews of other restaurants -- several dozen in the paper, several hundred online. Some are digests of previous full-length reviews; others highlight places that haven't had a full-length review but are still worthy of your consideration. Tip o' the Cap is a regular feature showcasing the newest capsule reviews. Check back often to see what's opened recently and what's new at some of your old favorites.

Chipotle 1676 Clarkson Road, Chesterfield; 636-536-7752. There are chains you loathe, chains you can tolerate and chains you secretly love. Then there's Chipotle, which you should put on a pedestal and offer sacrifices to. The burritos are big, yes (though probably not as big as your head), and quickly made to order, but it's Chipotle's commitment to quality that sets it so far above the fast-casual crowd: beef, chicken and pork raised without hormones or antibiotics, piquant salsas, tortillas that hold everything together without being gummy. Hell, even the beans taste better. A few Chipotle fans claim they can make a burrito -- already a steal at $5-$6 -- last two meals, but you probably won't believe it until you see it yourself.

Additional location: 2028 Highway K, Suite 112, O'Fallon; 636-240-7276.
