Seeing Red
Today we continue our look at the bonanza of new restaurants -- both actual and merely promised -- opening in the Washington Avenue Loft District this year.
Red should be one of the more interesting additions to the city's culinary landscape: higher-end takes on traditional eastern European fare. As you can see from the photo above, there is now a sign outside the restaurant's space at 1130 Washington Avenue (just west of Copia), and it should open next month.
Exactly when is still up in the air, however. An ad in the hard copy of this week's RFT announces Red's grand opening as Thursday, July 5. However, according to a poster on this thread on the fantastic UrbanSTL message board, that might have been pushed back to July 19. I called Red at 314-588-7864, but the phone rang and rang and rang. I'll try again later and let you know what I find out.
