Will Starrs Shine?
Richmond Heights wine shop and gourmet market Starrs (1135 South Big Bend Boulevard) is now serving dinner Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings beginning at 5:30 p.m.
Starrs has featured private dining for 15 years -- the dining room, recently renovated, seats about 50 -- but owner Bud Starr told me that increased competition in the private-dining market has led them to try a full dinner menu. That menu includes seafood from Bob's Seafood, Colorado lamb chops and filet mignon. Starr says he's not trying to compete with the Harvests and Niches of St. Louis but wants to offer food that people in the area will like.
And, of course, Starrs offers one of this town's more notable selections of wine. (Starr told me he's still trying to work out whether there will be a corkage fee for wine purchased at Starrs.) For more information, you can reach Starrs at 314-781-2345.
