Hop to It

I used to have an apartment overlooking Forest Park. Each year, on the day of the Great Forest Park Balloon Race, my fiancée and I would sit on our deck with a couple of beers and watch the balloons rise into the air and -- one occasion -- almost crash into our building's parking lot.

Now that we've moved, you couldn't pay me to get anywhere near Forest Park tonight and tomorrow. (Though if you paid me and offered to park my car, I might consider it.)

Instead, tomorrow you just might find me at the Schalfly Tap Room (2100 Locust Street) for the annual Hop in the City festival: lots of beer, food and live music.

Or you might find me on my deck with a six-pack of beer and some of those cheap grocery-store happy-birthday balloons.

Next week, we'll talk some more about the restaurant culture in St. Louis and we'll try some barbecue and Tex-Mex. Or is that "barbecue" and "Tex-Mex"?

Whatever you do this weekend, eat something good.
