Happy Valentine's Day. Should you not heed my advice from a few days ago and venture to a restaurant with your sweetheart, do not order the escolar (a.k.a. Hawaiian butterfish). it's been known for a while that escolar can lead to some, um, explosive problems, but it's back in the news lately. (Radar)

A new Swedish study finds that eating fast food damages the liver. Of course, the test subjects consumed fast food at a rate similar to Morgan Spurlock in Supersize Me. (ABC News)

The escolar article is hilarious..

They say if you freeze it and rethaw before cooking it cuts down on the side-effects.

I love the stuff myself, and for a while in the 90's everyone braved serving it, but you don't see it much now because everyone thought they were getting food poisoning all the time.
