House of Savoy: Yet Another Lumiere Place Restaurant

• I would not recommend House of Savoy. We went last night. The hostess was not friendly and showed an attitude. The service was terrible (our waiter was inattentive, distracted, unfriendly, and messed up my order even after I repeated it twice.) The food was barely mediocre. I ordered a pizza and my boyfriend ordered linguine del mare. The presentation of the food was not good, it looked haphazardly slopped together. It also did not taste good. To make everything worse, it is all over-priced for the quality that you receive. Needless to say, we were not happy and we wont be going back.

• First experience NOT GOOD Second experience INCREDIBLE I went to House of Savoy for the first time a few weeks ago and thought the menu was somewhat italian with pizza pasta ect. I ordered the filet mignon in a pochini mushroom sauce and my girlfriend ordered the shrimp scampi. The filet was incredible but the shrimp were rubbery and not very scampi as far as i could tell. the wine selection is good and prices vary from 5 to 10 bucks. i recommend the well red or the cab 75. at the end of dinner it took our waitress forever to even see if we were ready for our bill, eventhough the place was not very busy. then it took so long for her to pick up the bill that we got up and went to the front desk and paid. my girlfriend was not very happy so she called to say how dissatisfied she was and they invited us back for a free meal. that was last night and I must say they treated us like royalty. we started with calamari and one of thier salads with candied walnuts, goat cheese and baby greens. the calamari came with a sauce that was very interesting. i have not had much calamari but i'd definately recommend it and the salads. we both got the filet this time and again it was awesome. they finished the night with complementry sampler of thier desserts garnished with fresh fruit, which were to die for. one of desserts was a cup shaped chocolate dish and it was so rich in dark chocolate flavor mmmmmm. So overall i would recommend that you give this place a chance. if your not satisfied with something just let'em know and they will take care of you.

• I went to Savoy for the first time last night. It is authentic Italian, or so they say. The Caesar salad was a large plate of lettuce. Now this is great if you like lettuce. The pieces of lettuce were as big as my head. It came with some pieces of bread, that taste like wood. The pasta, all pasta, is undercooked. It tasted like rubber. The waitress said that they make it that way, because it's the same way, that they prepare it in Italy. Well, a warning would be nice. They had a sausage soup, that looked like something that you would see on the National Geographic Channel. It had pieces of spinach that was laying in water, with large pieces of mystery meat. Can you say Fear Factor meal. The presentation was worse, than this sounds. Honestly. To top it off, I order a drink. It was watery. It was a Bahama Mama, which has Rum, and fruit juice. It tasted like the drink was sitting in the sun, for about 30 minutes, because I didn't taste any alcohol. To top it off, the bartender was sipping something out of a pitcher. I can't make this up. I'm so glad that my meal was comped. If I would have to pay for this, I would still be there washing dishes! BEWARE
