that's really sad. the head chef there was so nice to my sister and her boyfriend -- going so far as to make special meals for them (they are vegan) every thursday.

i went to red's new years party though, and it did not end pretty. suffice it to say that a fight broke out in the ladies (!) restroom. insanity!

That place was doomed from the very beginning as most places on Washington Avenue (look at Masulla) that THINK they are just going to come in... set up some half-ass store/club/restaurant and make it.... given the fact that downtown is simply NOT READY for all of that. Luckys is next...

I read the above comment and scoffed. It's very courageous for you Downtowner to make snide comments about people who try to make a difference in their community. You have no idea what these people and businesses are experiencing. Your negativity and close-minded nature is the reason why Downtown still has a bad aftertaste.
So in simplistic terms...Shut up.

DOWNTOWNER NEEDS TO SHUT THE FUCK UP. I HAVE OWNED A BUSINESS IN THE CENTRAL WEST END FOR 13 YEARS NOW AND CAN UNDERSTAND EXACTLY WHAT THE RESIDENTS AND BUSINESSES ARE GOING THROUGH. BEFORE THE CWE BECAME A THRIVING AREA IN ST.LOUIS, WE WENT THROUGH THE SAME BATTLE AND STILL DO.NOW WE BOAST SOME OF THE MOST ESTABLISHED AND WELL ATTENDED BUSINESSES IN THE CITY. I PERSONALLY KNOW BOTH KIRK APAZELLER AND MARCIA MASULLA AMONGST SEVERAL OTHER SMALL BUSINESS OPERATORS/OWNERS IN DOWNTOWN ST.LOUIS. THEY WORKED VERY HARD AND INVESTED THEIR ASSES OFF AND I CAN ASSURE YOU THAT WHEN YOU SAY "HALF-ASS", IT IS COMPLETLY DISRESPECTFUL AND VERY UNEDUCATED ON YOUR PART. MAYBE INSTEAD OF WRITING THE TRASH THAT YOU DID AND POINTING FINGERS YOU SHOULD WALK IN OUR SHOES FOR A DAY. UNTIL THEN, LISTEN TO THEPREVIOUS POSTER LESLIE AND SHUT THE FUCK UP.
