Now Open: Emack & Bolio's

• Perhaps this stuff is good in Boston, but St. Louis should close up shop. This was the worst ice cream experience I have ever had, and I've had A LOT of experience with ice cream. In fact all have been pleasant until now! I got one scoop, paid $3 and threw it away. It literally had chunks of ice in it. Big ones at that. I prefer my ice cream to be smooth and creamy, not crunchy and taste like it has too much powder flavoring in it. The cheap plastic spoon bent like jello and I never was able to get a decent bite. As I was wrangling with the spoon, the cream was melting but the chunks of ice stayed solid. Oh, if your hungry for ice cream, don't go for the scoop - it won't even fill a 1/2 cup measure. As I toyed with the jello spoon and ice, my boyfriend drove us to Cold Stone Creamery where I promptly threw Emack's ice chunked glob of goo in the trash. I then feasted on a $4.40 mound of double scoop, real ice cream in a waffle cone. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY. Hit Cold Stone or Ted Drewes if you don't want disappointment.

• stopped in yesterday....there are music photos on the wall. Just seems like they openned early, as in handlettered poster, few tables and chairs, soft-serve not hooked up because the franchiser neglected to send instructions, "out of...." signs in first week of opening, not having serving dishes for speciality offerings, etc.... One 4 oz scoop sudae was $4.39+ tax....it was good not great. I actually had been jonsing for a good chocolate soft serve cone. And their website's description took me 10 miles out of my way. Hope they get the kinks out and take a long look at what the store looks like to a customer paying premium prices.

• Ate there in Boston near the New England Aquarium while I was on business... Very good, I recommend it, though don't forget about the lovely Mr. Wizard's and Serendipity, people!
