It's wonderful to see New Orleans restaurants are making a healthy comeback.
Articles written in 1960-70's waxing poetry about New Orleans' neighborhood joints as well as the haute cuisine temples turned many of us youngsters onto cooking. Chef Paul Prudhomme with his big smile and cajun accent, made cookin' seem like a fun adventure. Justin Wilson, John Folse, Leah Chase, Leslie Austin et al, just enjoyed life, food and sharing the joy that comes with that southern laid back hospitality.
When Katrina hit and wiped New Orleans off the map it broke our hearts....for many of us working on placing New Orleans cooking community in other jobs it was a shock to think that the "good ole' days" may not return for a few of our treasured institutions.
To have Mr. Anderson decide that New Orlean's restaurant scene is healthy enough to critique is a beautiful thing.
