• hmmmm.... it'll be interesting seeing how the new outbreaks affect food safety. Will everything be rechecked in the field or will imports become more rigidly tested? Is everything sold commercially going to be radiated? You gotta wonder why now? It's just not been that prolific through the years. *El Bulli article: many of us that cook reference local farmers on menus, teach local foods camps, prepare local foods demos at markets because farmers were going out of business. If you don't know what's in season nor have a connection with local farmers, you probably wouldn't know that they are (and have been for a while) decreasing in numbers. That's why so many of us in the STL cooking community do what we do....list the farms and teach people how to cook local food. ** that must be some meat market. Makes you wonder what those women were going after. G&W placates their customers with beer and weiners. Just cannot be frustrated about waiting if you're handed a beer and snack. Wasn't Bobbit from FLA.? the heat must accentuate their animalistic tendencies. French manacured nails too boot.

• The fight at the butcher shop.....OMG July 3 Dierbergs deli/fish/whatever counter. Disaster waiting to happen and I will NEVER try to get anything from there (the counters not the store, I like the store) Your number is for the whole counter not the section you want, and there were a lot of people and it was loud so when my number was called it was barely audible, so I missed my turn. Ok, I was angry, but my fault. Walk away come back take a number. One of THEIR employee's decides he doesn't need a number. They call 78 and employee steps up, a guy standing next to me says "I'm 78" which sucks. I was next with 79, which they call, and real 78 steps up. I had to walk away, leaving a wake of expletives somewhat under my breath. (to relieve stress) I don't like confusion in public settings, and it was very confused there. In my perfect world there would be one line, say a piece of tape on the floor, you stand there and wait your turn, don't get in the line 'til you're ready and don't get out of it unless you want to start over.
