While many of us over here are generally preoccupied with one and only amendment -- the First -- we'd be loath not to note that today is the *75th anniversary* of the Twenty-First Amendment.
That's right, folks, on December 5, 1933, the grand ol' U.S. of A. free-eth the speakeasys and did away with Prohibition!
To celebrate, Jake Hafner, owner of 33 Wine Shop & Tasting Bar (Riverfront Times Best Wine Shop for 2008) in Lafayette Square, is serving up $3.33 glasses of wine and $3.33 pints of brew tonight between 5:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.In case you ever wondered how Hafner named his joint, well, now you know.
