I eat Latitude 26 for Dinner. The Worst Food and Service. Cold Food Small Portions and Poor Grade of Beef. Unappealing Food Presentation
Posted On: Friday, Jul. 31 2009 @ 12:51AMWe had dinner at Latitude 26 tonight...great salsa and margaritas. Our food was hot and tasty. The atmosphere is casual and fun. The renovation is amazing. The service was very efficient and good. It just opened 2 days ago...I think people need to be patient and considerate...the staff and owners are working hard and need to hear positives!!! Imagine if it was your restaurant or new business?? Give those people a break and let them work out the kinks before slammin' them.
Posted On: Friday, Jul. 31 2009 @ 2:07AMMy opinion about the Food and Service at Latitude 26 maybe I was not clear enough about my experience at this place. My Four Guests and Myself all agreed that the Food and Service was Poor at Best. The renovation on the place is nothing special probably done on a limited budget. Even if the place opened just 2 hours ago a customer doesn't have to except Poor Service and Poor Food and waste their money on this type of Food and Service. A customer doesn't have to spoon feed the owners and staff with positives if their is none.If this was my business this would not happen, Both owners were there. The owners never came by my table to welcome me or ask how everyrhing was are say thank you for coming in. We were regular customers at Almonds. Were is the key word.I eat out seven days a week and get treated special at other places and don't have to except the cold shoulder treatment from the Owners. Their is no such thing as a break in business when a customer send"s their money on a Service or Product. Working hard and missing the little things produce basically nothing. By the way margaritas were not that good weak and served in the wrong type of glass. Salsa tasted like tomato ketchup and had no Kick. Chips were cold. The Almonds need to change their I'm doing you a favor attitude. Expressing someone;s appointing is not slammin' them. i stick with eating at the best place in St Louis ANNIE' GUNN'S. where the Owner and Staff treats myself and my family special everytime we come-in. We eat their every Sunday without fail.i will give the Almonds a break if they give me a Refund. When I stay at my Vacation Home in Laguna California We eat at Spago's Beverly Hills. When Wolfgang Puck is there he sits at are table thanks us for coming in that it was nice to see us again. I'm talking about the greatest Chef on Earth.
Posted On: Friday, Jul. 31 2009 @ 11:42AMWOW not as scary as the Food and Service at Latitube 26. I know that the truth sometimes can be Scary. And it can really get scary when a person really knows and is trained in the field of Food and Service. And has worked under some of the greatest chefs around world.
CHEF KERRY
Posted On: Friday, Jul. 31 2009 @ 10:46PMWOW!!! Scary and self important...I guess that gives you the right to judge people so harshly in a public forum. I don't know the Almonds and really did't expect them to make me feel special. I went to enjoy the company of my friends and support a new family-owned resturant in a wonderful neighborhood that needs to thrive with businesses again. Thinking bigger than oneself is key even if you are a chef that has "worked under some of the greatest chefs around." Being humble is also a nice quality.
Posted On: Saturday, Aug. 1 2009 @ 12:04AMMaking someone feel special the customer is the most important part of owning a family-owned business. The Almonds should make you feel special----you are the Guest. I know the Almonds they don't make me feel special. That"s why I will no longer eat at their places. Im not judging anybody voicing a opinion. THANKS for the Advice. I'm done with this-------discussing a nothing restaurant is waste of time------Thanks Again Good-Bye and Good-Luck. The truth will set you FREE.
Why is there such hateful and personal commentary about a restaurant? If u did not like the food fine and if you did like it so be it. This seems to be a personal attack by people that have a little too much time on the PC. I ate at latitudes tonight and the food was good. I am not sying that it was exceptional but it was another take on Tex-Mex that I personally appreciated. If one does or does not like the food a self-justifying tirade does no one good. I think the previous remarks are just the same conflict and partisan (no matter if it is: political or restaurant or any small mindedness) that is crippling society and mankind as a whole. SERIOUSLY get a life and let someone disagree with you!! Dont feel that you are the end all of humanity and tell people what is wrong and right in the world. OPEN YOPUR MINDS!
Posted On: Saturday, Aug. 1 2009 @ 2:54AMAre you kidding me, the Almonds are two of the best people I know. They also happen to run one of the best restaurants in the city. Nobody in America eats out more often than me....nobody. I travel 5 days a week all over the world and eat wherever I want and spend whatever I want. Frankly I wouldnt be caught dead eating at Wolfgang Pucks Spago...food is useless... (used to be good before he got so full of himself and started serving fast food at Lambert Field)
Anyway, Latitude 26 will be a big hit and Tony and Kelli deserve alot of credit for creating a new business in an area of our city that needs economic revitalization.
Frankly I think they did a great job on the new place and I'm sure the Almonds will make this venture very successful. Im very excited to try it and I'm I will love it!
Being a regular patron of their restaurant Almonds. And coming in and trying their new place. Almonds did not say thank you or thanks for trying are new place. That's pretty sad on their part. It takes a minute to do so. Wolfgang Puck is one of nicest human being you ever want to meet makes everybody around him feel special. If he was full of himself Spago would not still be on the map of places to be seen and eat at after all these years.Wolfgang is the GREATEST CHEF ON THE PLANET. And has the greatest staff in the world. From management on down.
Posted On: Saturday, Aug. 1 2009 @ 11:41AMAte at Tony and Kelli's new place tonight. Hats off to them and their hard work. I live in the neighborhood and am glad to have them in Dogtown!!!
Food is great, Service is better.
Best of Luck, Dr. Dan
Gave Latitube 26 a second try. Service a little better meaning average, Food portions still small. And my opinion of the food poor at best.

We ate at Latitude 26 on Saturday night...had great service. The Margaritas are great..not from a mix and good tequila. I know the Almonds are working on the food coming out of the kitchen...they are not totally pleased with it. One of the chefs wasn't as qualified as he appeared. The brisket is great and we love the salsa. I am hanging in there with them...think it will get better and better. This is great for the neighborhood. The first week opening a business or starting a new job is difficult. The patio is wonderful.
Posted On: Sunday, Aug. 2 2009 @ 8:22PMWell as a person that has served in quite a few different restarunts I thought the service was great the food was good not amazing but its the first week and every other new place i've been through usually takes at least a week are so to get the food prefect but the flavors were there... as a side note i want to say to all the high and mighty people that think that the whole restarunt need to stop for you GET OVER YOURSELF its not your maid and personal chefs cooking for only you there's usually other people there that would like service to. I know your type the kind that get mad when your glass is still more then half full and haven't been refilled yet are the person that just wants a little bit more wine to top you off. I mean what the hell not even President Bush was like that and I served him a few time and he owned the country so maybe instead of complaining about everything you should slide down off you high horse and consider all the other people that get worse service because you can't let the server be away from your table for 5 seconds..... "back to my review"
it was good and I will go back we need more good places to eat in dogtown
Glad to have a good spot for Tex-Mex in Dogtown again Thanks
We took a group to Latitude 26 tonight and had a great dinner. The bar is fantastic..great margaritas. The guacamole and queso were good. The Smoked Brisket is a fantastic dish..and the chimichangas are very good. It is so nice to see people in Dogtown again..enjoying themselves. I think for week 2 they are doing a good job. The service was efficient and polite...always had what we needed. I added a pepper pot to my meal and spiced it up...not for everyone. I will continue to go back and support the hard-working staff. We need jobs in this community..it makes Dogtown stronger.
Posted On: Saturday, Aug. 8 2009 @ 11:57PMIn my opinion, great restaurants aren't born; they evolve. Almonds has been evolving 14 years to become the fabulous restaurant it is. I, for one, am giving Latitude time to evolve before passing any judgement.
BTW, I ate at Latitude the day it opened. I thought my food was good and the service friendly. I loved the beans (not your normal pinto beans that are served in mexican restaurants!) that came with my gordito. The shrimp rojo was absolutely delicious!!! For just opening, I thought they were off to a great start!!
Posted On: Sunday, Aug. 9 2009 @ 3:40PM"Latitude 26" ? Sounds like a place where guys are topless, and thats just weird in a restuarant.
Posted On: Wednesday, Aug. 12 2009 @ 10:10AMI think the name is very creative! Had lunch there today...very good. Simple and fresh. Hey, what's wrong with topless guys?HA
Posted On: Wednesday, Aug. 12 2009 @ 4:10PMHad lunch their for the third time. Food STILL POOR at best. In my opinion if someone wants to spent their hard earned money waiting for Latitude 26 to evolve like Almonds go for it. Almonds in my opinion is a average restaurant with average food and not even close to being the best restaurant in Clayton. Surely not St. Louis. Their so many Great Restaurants in St. Louis that were Excellent the First Hour they were Open. In my opinion don't waste your Money and more important your Time waiting for Latitude 26 evolve.
Posted On: Friday, Aug. 14 2009 @ 12:33PMThree Strikes Your Out...I hope you don't own a business OR ever try and open a new one! You obviously haven't or you wouldn't be so quick to go online and give your opinion. Ever heard of karma?? How many restaurants have you been to the hour they opened??? Is that what you do?? Run around to new restuarants and then go online to give your opinion because EVERYONE wants to hear what you have to say. Why do you think anyone cares what you think?? Have you ever thought about that??? You should think about the people employed at that restuarant..trying to make a living in this terrible economy. You think it is okay to send people away..let them decide on their own. Grow up.
Posted On: Saturday, Aug. 15 2009 @ 5:45PMThe Food was Horrible and Cold as well as the Service. I've given the place a couple tries I'm done. Sorry Dogtown.
Posted On: Monday, Aug. 17 2009 @ 4:28AMI have to say that I was impressed with Latitude in Dogtown. I read all these negative remarks on here before we ate there so... now I thought I would post a positive remark!! The food was great especially the Margaritas...Cheap!!! My server was very nice and recommended many things! I will definitely be going back!!
Keep up the great work Almonds!!!!
Seriously...wolfgang puck the best chef in the world? That's too funny.
Posted On: Tuesday, Aug. 18 2009 @ 10:11AMAte their for the fourth time with a Friend. This Time OUt------Food and Service has-------Improved. Will be going back like the Effort------that's being made from the improving stay point.-----------Great JOB----ALMONDS.
Posted On: Tuesday, Aug. 18 2009 @ 2:16PMHad dinner on Saturday night..the place was packed...so good to see! Our food was very good and hot. The service was efficient and polite. Love the margaritas. I think this place will continue to get better and better. I met Kelli Almond...she and her husband have a great philosophy and want to serve good food with good service. We are happy to have them in Dogtown.
Posted On: Tuesday, Aug. 18 2009 @ 4:17PMFinally had lunch at Latitude 26. Couldn't wait to try it, but also waited a couple of weeks. Our food was delicious!!! We had appetizers, food and the best margs. Our server Andrea was pleasant and very accomodating!! We were greeted by both kelli and Tony and even Kelli's mom. Really we were there to have lunch , not visit with the owners. (although we love them). If anyone can make a restaurant a sucess..it's these two!! the portions were quite big and the prices were VERY reasonable. Best of Luck and Congrats on opening a new restaurant during "tough economic" times. The dogtown neighbors are going to love you guys!!!
Posted On: Wednesday, Aug. 19 2009 @ 7:33PMHorrible food! But great service ( I wish I paid attention to our waiters name) The food was bland, dry, and tasteless. The margarita was great though! We will we return? Perhaps in a few months, when the newness wears off, and they figure out what they are doing wrong.
Posted On: Thursday, Sep. 3 2009 @ 8:15PMThree of us ate at Latitudes this week. Their name should be Attitudes. Service was OK, salsa was good. Everything else was a trainwreck. Margarita tasted like waterdown lemonade with a little tequila. One of us had gorditas, and it was a hard, dry, cornmeal cake with a little dry brisket. he owner came over and assumed the gordita was nto good. Told us how it needed to come off the menu, that she knew it was bad, that her husband could make it good, but this cook/chef could not. After all that she did not take it off the check. We ate at Chuy's at least once a week, we live in Dogtown, we work in Dogtown, and we will not go back.
Posted On: Sunday, Sep. 6 2009 @ 8:31AMWe love this restaurant! Fresh food, simple and great flavor. We have eaten here a few times and tried a number of items on the menu...all good. The margaritas are house made with good tequila!!!!! Love it. Go Dogtown.
Posted On: Tuesday, Sep. 8 2009 @ 11:38PMWe had dinner at Latitude 26 and really enjoyed the atmosphere, food and margaritas. The service was wonderful..very efficient and pleasant..not bothersome. The queso is good. I like the flavor of the food..not too spicy or overdone. Some in the group got a pepper pot...not me!! Everyone was so accomodating..great prices yet nice. Good addition to Dogtown.
Posted On: Wednesday, Sep. 9 2009 @ 3:47PMHad Dinner tonight at Latitud 26 great food and good service, the patio area is the best, I will come back.
Posted On: Saturday, Sep. 12 2009 @ 12:11AMBeing a Texan I know what authentic Tex Mex food is all about and Latitude 26 has it together!! And what Margarita's!! the real thing, not some lemonade tasting mix served by supposedly Tex Mex "Chain" places in STL .. Service is superb and such a well done decor! I know Dogtowner's and all of STL appreciates this type restaurant being in their area! Well, those with any class that is!
Posted On: Friday, Sep. 18 2009 @ 9:54AMLatitude 26 is good!!! Fresh, home-made food with lots of flavor. The srimp rojo, brisket, guac and fish tacos are so tasty. I liked the atmosphere..casual, relaxed and clean...so nice yet affordable. My husband also got the pepper pot..he loved it. I live in the neighborhood and enjoyed watching the transformation..nice renovation. The area is much cleaner...would love to see Dogtown bounce back. Definitely a place to try and support! The service was great! Reallly nice people...no attitude and very accomodating. We will defintely return.
Posted On: Saturday, Sep. 19 2009 @ 1:31AMWe at at Latitude 26 this weekend. The atmosphere was very relaxed and inviting. The food was very good. The brisket flautas had great flavor, and the margaritas were wonderful. The restaurant was very kid-friendly. We were greeted warmly as were the many family groups that entered while we were there. The layout of the restaurant provides spaces for people in larger groups, people who want to watch sporting events on the flatscreen, as well as, quite corners for those who want more privacy. We loved the whole experience, and we will be back.
Posted On: Tuesday, Oct. 13 2009 @ 8:33AMLoved it! I am a salsa freak and I was impressed. Keep on truckin guys!! Doing great!
