FoodWire: Parkside Lounge Closed, Ice Cream on the Park Closed for Season

News from Gut Check Auxiliary Headquarters, a.k.a. Tower Grove South: Parkside Lounge, which opened only in March at 3117 South Grand Boulevard, appears to have closed. The space has been dark for at least a week now, and the phone number is no longer in service.

Meanwhile -- and I apologize for this being very delayed news -- Ice Cream on the Park has been closed "for the season," according to the sign on its door, since early October.

Ice Cream on the Park took over the space (pictured above) at 3101 South Grand Boulevard that was previously occupied by the first area location of Boston-based Emack & Bolio's and, before that, by a florist. Emack & Bolio's St. Louis tenure was brief: It opened in the summer of 2008, closed for the season in late autumn of that year and then reopened as Ice Cream on the Park this spring.

While I suppose I can understand the reasons for closing an ice cream shop for the season -- though, really how many other ice cream/gelato/frozen custard shops in the area do so? -- as a resident of the area, it pains me to see such a prime location at the corner of Grand and Arsenal Street empty for about half the year.
