The Royale (3132 South Kingshighway; website) is hosting a special chili dinner this Saturday, December 5, beginning at 6 p.m. Apparently, the popular restaurant and tavern will be closed for kitchen renovations that afternoon and will have a limited menu that evening: chili (both meat and vegetarian) with freshly baked cornbread as well as pretzel hoagies. Beer aficonados take note: The Royale will have a keg of Founders Backwoods Bastard Scotch Ale, aged in bourbon barrels and clocking in at 10.2% ABV.
