The hometown baker says it expects the franchise-operated outlets to do the same by the end of 2010.
"We are pleased to be the first national concept to provide this level of transparency to consumers," reads a statement from Scott Davis, Panera's "chief concept officer."
Posting calories on menus isn't new -- but the fast-food chains that have done it were subject to local laws passed during the last several years in New York City, Seattle and California.
Panera maintains it is the first company to voluntarily adopt the practice.
