Just in time for April Fool's Day, food fraud is on the rise. Some less-than-scrupulous food producers have recently been busted labeling cow milk as sheep milk and Mississippi paddlefish eggs as sturgeon caviar. Purposeful mislabeling effects five to seven percent of the American food supply, but could be more. "It's growing very rapidly, and there's more of it than you might think," James Morehouse, a senior partner at A.T. Kearney Inc. told The Washington Post.

Buy me some Paula Deen popcorn and Bobby Flay Cracker Jacks. Food Network-branded chow is coming to the luxury suites at Major League Baseball stadiums this season in St. Louis, Milwaukee, Cleveland, Cincinnati and Arlington, Texas, according to the Business Journal of Milwaukee. No joke.

Despite all the lip service people are giving to eating healthier, numbers show that the recession has led to higher sales in cheap, fatty food. "It's not that people aren't concerned about health and wellness," Jonathan Feeney of Janney Capital Markets told the Philadelphia Inquirer. "But society cares more about taste and value." You've gotta be kidding me.
