Sold! Pabst Brewing Company, the maker of PBR and Schlitz, is finally sold. The Wall Street Journal reports that food investor C. Dean Metropoulos has purchased to company for $250 million. Metropoulos has built his fortune on buying small food companies, like Vlasic Pickles and Bumble Bee Tuna, then selling them to massive companies like ConAgra for big profit.

A new study shows that the removal of trans fats from food hasn't opened the door to adding other, equally unhealthy additives. "We found that in over 80 brand name, major national products, the great majority took out the trans fat and did not just replace it with saturated fat, suggesting they are using healthier fats to replace the trans fat," lead researcher Dr. Dariush Mozaffarian, an assistant professor of epidemiology, told U.S. News and World Report.

"'I could say that in the past five years, my business has doubled,' said John Brooks Jr., the meat-cutter at Des Moines' B&B Grocery, Meat and Deli, an 88-year-old family owned store."
