Sleek Celebrates Two Years in St. Louis with Art, Beef and Hubert Keller
This Friday Sleek at Lumière Place marks its second year in St. Louis with a celebration of art and beef. The steakhouse will host Carpe Diem with Chef Hubert Keller, featuring local artist Jennifer Hayes, at Sleek's second anniversary "Beef Around the World" dinner.
"We are really showcasing the level of cuisine Chef Keller is known for," chef de cuisine Steven Caravelli tells Gut Check. "It's always exciting when we have the opportunity to create a unique menu like the 'Beef Around the World.' It gives us the opportunity to thank our regular guests and to attract new ones. We really want to draw more locals into the restaurant, and I think we have something great to offer here."
Caravelli and Keller's menu fashions global flavors with some of the best beef in the world...
Caravelli's own Kobe pastrami on homemade rye starts the night, along with carpaccio and and a meat loaf hors d'oeuvre.
The first seated course includes a Singapore-style satay with Kobe sausage and sauerkraut, and steak tartare. The the trip really begins with courses of Thai yuzu-marinated skirt steak, an American Rossini-style buffalo burger, braised oxtail cannelloni inspired by Italy and a classic French Bordelaise-style rib eye filet.
Local artist Jennifer Hayes, whose curvy abstract paintings have graced Sleek's space, will complete her nine-part masterpiece that will be restaurant's focal point. Hayes' work will also be available for purchase during the event.
The five-course feast costs $75. Add $35 to back it up with wine pairings.
And if you can't make it on Friday, hit Sleek Saturday for the regular menu and Chef Keller manning the DJ booth.
