Kids Going Hungry in Missouri? Let Them Eat Hardee's 2/3 Pound Monster Thickburgers!

Just in time for the Fourth of July, Health.com presents "50 Fattiest Foods in the States," which we quickly bookmarked for our next road trip. Representing Missouri: Hardee's 2/3 Pound Monster Thickburger, which weighs in at "[a] mind-blowing 95 grams of fat and 36 grams of saturated fat -- more than six times the fat in a regular Hardee's hamburger."

Meanwhile we have a ConAgra-funded study, Child Food Insecurity in the United States: 2006-2008, which measures, state by state, the percentage of children at risk of going hungry. Arkansas, Texas and Arizona are the top three, with rates of nearly 25 percent. Don't pat yourself on your Thickburger-thickened Missouri back quite yet, though. The Show-Me State placed fourth in the study -- OK, fifth if you count Washington, D.C. -- with a rate of 23.2 percent.

And you thought New York was so cosmopolitan and St. Louis so, well, so hoosier. The Wall Street Journal checks in with NYC's ongoing -- as in, for three decades now -- debate about whether to allow wine sales in grocery stores. Spoiler alert: It's not likely to happen anytime soon.

Hawaii has just enacted the world's first ban on shark's-fin soup.
